点评:Dovedale itself is absolutely stunning and is 100% worth the views.
However, for us, this once beautiful site has been ruined. Whilst this may not bother some people, as other reviewers have mentioned, it has become massively overcrowded and the once peaceful setting is now home to vast quantities of people/families (easily between 250-350 people) sat all the way along the water, swimming, paddling, people blocking the stepping stones for pictures (despite queues of people waiting to cross either side), children running wild, swimwear hanging off tree branches and copious amounts of litter left behind at the end of the day. For us, the place has been ruined by what can only be described as anti-social behaviour and I would only visit during extreme off-peak (winter sun days), if at all, due to the current state it has been allowed to become. Very disappointed with the management of this particular site, especially as a National Trust member.
As a side note, I also find it extremely wrong that National Trust are charging for the toilets given the cost of parking (for non-members), especially given the state the toilets were in on our visit! If you’re going to charge people to use the facilities, at least use the money to pay someone to upkeep them and replace the toilet roll as the sign says this is what the money is for when you go to pay and enter!
