Museum of Berkshire Aviation的点评
点评：The Museum of Berkshire Aviation is located to the east of the town of Woodley.
I took bus 13 from outside Reading station to close to the venue. Buses 14 and 19A would suffice as well. Journey time is between 35-50 minutes depending on traffic.
I only had a half hour window to look around but thoroughly enjoyed the aeronautical exhibits.
The museum is housed in an old hanger at the former Woodley Airfield. Miles Aircraft Ltd was based here. It was eventually bought out by Handley Page.
There are numerous old planes on display. Mostly Miles aircraft, including a Martinet, plus examples from Handley Page and Fairey Aviation.
There’s an interesting display about Charles Lindbergh who bought a Mohawk from Miles several years after his Atlantic crossing.
There were photographs of air displays and races, in one of which a certain Amy Johnson came third.
I liked the wooden model of Concorde.
Admission was £6. The volunteers at the museum were most friendly and helpful.
In winter the museum is open from 10.30-4 Wednesday and from 12-4 on Sunday.
