探险队-边缘航行的点评
点评：We took the full day Great Barrier Reef tour from Arlie Beach. This was a shortened version from a cruise ship, which was incredibly over priced (probably the cruise line's fault). Based on the price, we expected a luxury experience. That's not what we got.
The boat picked us up from our ship. It's a fairly large boat but there were 59 passengers, which made it feel crowded. We were given 2 drink tickets that were needed for anything but water. As we were leaving, the captain announced that the conditions were bad (even dangerous) so we would not be going to the reef. He suggested that anyone that's not a strong swimmer should stay on the boat. The trip probably should have been canceled.
We stopped near two islands to snorkel. The conditions weren't good and the currents were strong. The boat staff did a nice job of keeping track of everyone. The current carried us quite far from the boat and we were told that they would be moving the boat to pick us up (that's what most operators do). After a few minutes, they changed their minds and told us to swim back, which was against the current. They had to pick up numerous people in the tender. The second spot was a little better but we still had to swim a long way. At the end, I felt like I had been on a swimming excursion as opposed to snorkeling.
Lunch was served on the boat. It was pretty good but it was a small buffet and it took quite a while for everyone to get through. Again, there were too many passengers.
The crew worked hard and were very nice despite the challenging conditions.
