Badly organised Christmas carol evening

点评：We visited the pier in the evening for the Christmas carols.
We arrived a bit early and although the queue to get in was very long. We eventually got to the front when the gates were shut and we were told there was no more room and told to leave. Everyone was extremely disappointed but we saw people walking back up the pier to come out. A group of us asked if we could go on in their place but we were told no. Even more people then left but we were still told no one else would be allowed on the pier that day and we should all go home.
Eventually we left as we had been told 3 or 4 times that no one else would be allowed on the pier that night (despite at least 100 people leaving). We went back to the car and as we drove past on our way home, we noticed that the gates had been opened and people were being let on. We pulled up and went over to have a look and were able to walk down the pier. By the time they eventually allowed us on, the carols were finished and it was all over.
The whole event was very badly managed. As it isn't ticketed they obviously hadn't planned for the amount of people that turned up and didn't know how to deal with it.
It really spoilt our evening and there was a lot of disappointed families.
On the plus side, we got to walk down the pier for free. It is not worth the £6 charge.
