点评:Having read some of the negative reviews of Anguib Beach, I think much of the disappointment comes from people arriving with the wrong expectations. Having visited myself, I'd separate the experience into two things: the beach itself and the facilities provided.
THE BEACH – NATURAL BEAUTY
Anguib Beach is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is stunning, the water is clear, and it's somewhere few foreign tourists seem to visit.
Is it the fine, powdery white sand you might expect from the advertising? Not really. The sand is quite coarse, with larger grains, but it's still beautiful and the beach was clean.
There were lots of shells along the waterline, but you can simply step over them. It's really not a big deal, just something worth knowing.
I've also seen complaints about the shallow water, but I had no problem swimming. It was approximately 1.2 metres deep almost immediately off the beach. We visited just after an off-shore typhoon, and even then the sea was calm, with no strong currents that we noticed.
I'm normally a magnet for biting insects, but they weren't an issue for me at all.
As a natural beach, I really can't find much to complain about. It's beautiful, clean, and a lovely place to spend the day.
**THE FACILITIES – VERY BASIC, BUT USABLE**
Now, this is where expectations really matter.
The facilities aren't great by modern resort standards. But they exist, they work, and if you know what you're getting into, they're perfectly manageable.
We only visited for the day, although overnight stays are available, with tents and camping equipment offered for hire at an additional cost.
**Cost:** Is it expensive? By Filipino standards, yes. Entrance was ₱400 per person during our visit, reduced to ₱200 if you hired something. If you just want to bring your own things and sit on the beach, you don't need to spend anything beyond the entrance fee.
**Food and drinks:** This is probably the most important thing to know. You cannot buy anything at the beach. No food, no drinks, no supplies. You must bring absolutely everything you need. There are charcoal cooking areas, but you'll need to bring your own food and cooking supplies.
**Toilets and showers:** They're basic, and certainly not luxurious, but they were clean and everything worked when we visited.
**Cottages:** You can rent what they call "cottages", although they're really open-sided wooden gazebos providing shade. They have electricity, apparently mainly for the karaoke equipment, but it does mean you can charge your phone!
**Phone signal:** Surprisingly good. We had no problems with mobile reception.
**Access:** I've seen complaints about getting there, but honestly, I don't understand them. Yes, it's a long drive, roughly three hours from the nearest commercial airport, Tuguegarao, but the roads were absolutely fine and Google Maps took us straight there. It's remote, not difficult to find.
**And finally, the karaoke...**
It was LOUD. Full volume, pretty much nonstop, all day.
But this is the Philippines, and karaoke is part of the culture. If you find it annoying, you have two options: walk a couple of minutes further up the beach, away from the facilities, and find somewhere to sit on the sand, or simply choose somewhere else to visit.
If you're expecting a peaceful resort where you can hear nothing but the waves, you may be disappointed.
**OVERALL – WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?**
Absolutely, but with a qualification.
Would I recommend travelling all the way to northern Luzon specifically for a beach holiday here? No.
But if you're already nearby, travelling around northern Luzon, or simply want to experience a beautiful beach that relatively few international tourists get to see, then I'd strongly recommend it.
The beach itself is stunning. The facilities are basic, probably overpriced for what they offer, and a long way from luxurious.
But ultimately, I came to enjoy a beautiful beach, not to admire the toilets.
Bring everything you need, manage your expectations, accept the karaoke, and enjoy Anguib Beach before it's developed into the next destination...
虽然 there are charcoal cooking areas there,但你仍需自带食物和烹饪用品。
