点评:I'm no geologist but still found the extensive collection of semi-precious gems, rock crystals, meteorite pieces and fossils fascinating. I have tried my hand at panning for gold in Scotland so liked the display of gold flakes found using this technique.
There's also a display of diamonds used in Britain's Crown Jewels, reproductions of course!
The owner wasn't working in the lapidary workshop when I was there, but you could see all the tools. Clearly this collection is the work of decades of collecting and great enthusiasm from the family owners. The "Professor’s Study" has a collection of geological books etc.
I didn't sample the food, but there's a large tearoom plus toilets and decent amount of off-street parking.
The shop is very well stocked with items from a few £ to £ hundreds. I thought items were very reasonably priced and bought a lovely blue geode for £15.
I see the business up for sale as the owner is wanting to retire, hopefully this Museum can remain open under new owners.
