点评:I'm dragging my feet with the reviews of this , but now in the holiday season I will try to recover a bit - only about 100+ reviews to write - anyways ... Timisoara , the Baroque Palace ( "Palatul Baroc" in Romanian) , this year in January ( actually for a few month but January was the last one) hosted an interesting exhibit ... works of Caravaggio and works inspired by him and done by the "Caravaggisti" ( the followers of Caravaggio).
A very good expo - if you love painting and art in general ( personally I'm not a huge fan of the fine arts, but from time to time I love to see some good works and after visiting Malta , where in every church you see some work of Mattia Preti and his "master" ( in inspiration at least) Caravaggio. ) it can be very interesting ... so it was this collection of works on display here ... just beautiful ... and there was also a funny side to it right outside the end of the exhibition.
Beautiful paintings from several collections - the price although was a bit steep should you ask me , but in the end is a matter of choice for everybody if they want to go or not.
The exhibit was titled the "Lights of Caravaggio" and the center theme was his ability to "play" with light and shadows on his works - and the same is valid for Caravaggisti - that distinct and unique. very realistic representation of human bodies and it inspired and entire current in painting.
Overall a great expo - although I'm an engineer it has been really interesting to see this expo.
PS: until March 2026 you can see an exhibit about Pompey at the same museum ... it might just worth checking it out.
