点评:Sunday 2nd August 2026, My husband and I drove up to Kedleston in Derbyshire to go to meet our friend Janet from Sheffield. We had all agreed to meet up and go to visit Kedleston Hall which is under the care of the National Trust.
Janet, My husband and I spent most of the day in this lovely and impressive house and we took lots of photographs. I found inspiration here and I wrote a poem called ‘To Catch A Fortune’.
In the afternoon we were all in need of refreshments, so we went into the servant’s hall for beverages and cakes. I had a fruit scone with jam and clotted cream and a chilled rhubarb crush drink. Janet had a can of coke and a tub of chocolate ice cream. My husband too had an fruit scone with jam and clotted cream and a chilled orange crush drink. We spent a pleasant hour here catching up on news.
We also visited the gift shop where Janet purchased a really nice beige hat for my husband; it really looked good on him and was perfect for summer. Janet also purchased for herself a really beautiful red plant which looked really stunning.
Afterwards, we went to visit the church with its wonderful marble memorials, we would have looked around the pleasure grounds only that we had run out of time and it was closing time.
