点评:The website describes this as a self-guided tour. To me, that means a docent welcomes you and then is available to answer questions as you freely roam through the exhibits. That is not the case here.
The docent kept everyone in the first room for 45 minutes with only two folding chairs available for those who needed to sit. She proceeded to lead us through the other two rooms on the first floor, sharing anecdotes and “fun facts” for 15-30 minutes in each room. After an hour and 45 minutes of this accompanied by the strong odor of moth balls in the Vermont Room, we were more than ready to leave but still hadn’t been upstairs to see the two bedrooms yet. We quickly went up to take a peek and made our exit.
The collection of artifacts and costumes is impressive and meaningful, and the docent is clearly very well-informed and passionate about sharing Rosemary’s lineage and career journey with visitors, but this should NOT be advertised as a self-guided tour!
It should also be noted that the admission fee and gift shop items are CASH ONLY, which is not indicated on the website.
