点评：Our tour at Montioni Frantoio e Cantina was one of the highlights of our visit to Umbria and is an experience we would highly recommend. What a wonderful winery!
The 4 plus hour tour including lunch and wine pairing was well organized and never felt rushed. Our guide spoke excellent English, making visiting the winery and olive mill easy to follow and enjoyable. She explained the winemaking and olive oil production process clearly, answered all of our questions, and shared her knowledge with enthusiasm.
The tasting was exceptional. We sampled five beautifully crafted wines, each offering its own distinct personality. From crisp, refreshing whites with bright fruit and floral notes to elegant, well-balanced reds with rich berry flavors, subtle spice, and smooth tannins, every wine was a pleasure to taste. Each pour reflected the care and craftsmanship that goes into Montioni's winemaking and paired perfectly with a delicious platter of typical Umbrian cured meats and cheese followed by homemade pasta, enhancing both the food and the wines. We also enjoyed two cold-pressed extra virgin olive oils served on toasted bread, and they were absolutely divine—one wonderfully intense and peppery with a bold finish, and the other smooth, fresh, and delicately fruity. It was a tasting that truly showcased one of the best of Umbria's wine and olive oil traditions. If you enjoy high-quality olive oil, you're in for a real treat.
A special mention goes to their beautiful new tasting room. It is elegant, inviting, and the perfect place to relax and end the tour while enjoying the wines and food in a warm, comfortable setting.
We enjoyed everything so much that we purchased two mixed cases of wine along with several bottles of their exceptional olive oil to take home. And look forward to continuing purchasing wines from Montefalco wines!
