点评:I was very disappointed with my recent visit to Kotilingeshwara Temple in Kolar. What should have been a peaceful spiritual experience felt more like a commercial business.
The problems started in the car parking itself, where a group of transgender people aggressively demanded ₹500. It felt more like forced payment than a voluntary donation, which left a very bad first impression.
After that, there were charges at almost every step. There is an entry fee, the washroom costs ₹10, and visitors are required to leave their footwear at a stand for an additional charge. Inside the temple too, many areas require separate payments.
While exiting, one staff member was shouting at visitors to leave only through a particular exit, which led directly to a shopping area. Families with children are naturally tempted or pressured to buy items there, making the whole arrangement feel like a marketing trap rather than a temple exit.
The most disappointing part is that annadanam, which was available during earlier visits, is no longer provided. Instead, the entire experience seems focused on collecting money from devotees.
Temples should provide a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere, not make devotees feel like they are being charged at every step. I hope the temple management addresses these issues and restores the dignity and devotion that the temple was once known for.
