点评:We visited Fragonard as part of a lovely day around Èze, with a tour of the factory, a perfume-making workshop and, inevitably, a visit to the shop afterward.
The guides were excellent: warm, friendly and genuinely informative. I particularly enjoyed learning about the different fragrance concentrations, from Extrait de Parfum and Parfum through Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Cologne and Eau Fraîche. It was one of those tourist experiences where I actually left knowing considerably more than when I arrived.
Making our own perfume was fun, although the “make your own” part is slightly generous. The ingredients and combinations available to us were quite limited, so don't expect to suddenly discover your inner master perfumer and concoct something wildly original.
The factory itself is interesting, but the sheer number of visitors can make the experience feel crowded and a little rushed. And then comes the boutique, where the educational tone rather quickly acquires a commercial fragrance. There is definitely an effort to sell, and while the products are lovely, I found some of them quite expensive for their size.
Still, I really enjoyed the experience. The guides make it worthwhile, the workshop is fun despite its limitations, and you leave with both your little creation and a much better understanding of what all those mysterious words on perfume bottles actually mean.
