点评:Monday 7th July we walked through this large archway as we entered St Stephen's Green. It is located at the top of Grafton Street in Dublin.
The arch was erected in 1907 to commemorate the soldiers of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers that lost their lives in the second Boer War between 1899 to 1902.
It stands 9.9 metres (thirty-two feet) high and roughly 8.5 Metres (twenty-eight feet)
Across the top section of the front of the Arch, there is an inscription in Latin, which translates as follows:-
"To her bravest soldiers, Dublin dedicates this monument, 1907"
Below the the inscription is a bronze crest, the Regimental Crest, with an elephant and tiger on a shield.
While walking through the arch look up and see the names, carved into the roof, are the names of the 212 soldiers that lost their lives.
There is a large black metal gate hanging from both sides of the inner walls.
On the top section of the archway, on the Park side, there is another inscription which is as follows:-
"In memory of the Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers who fell in the South African War, AD 1899 - 1900"
Also carved into the stone around the arch are the names of the six key battle locations: Talana, Colenso, Hart's Hill, Ladysmith, Tugela Heights, and Laing's Nek.

穿过拱门,抬头仰望,屋顶上镌刻着212名阵亡士兵的名字。
内墙两侧悬挂着一扇巨大的黑色金属大门。
拱门顶部,靠近公园的一侧,还有另一段铭文:
