点评:Walked up the Tor in the mini heatwave, but on one of the breezier days. Went prepared with sun cream, water and hat. It was very windy at the top, definitely had to hold onto your hat. There are 2 ways of getting up there. We apparently chose the harder route, which was mainly stairs. I think it was better route up because you can actually see the top and the tower while you are climbing - definitely motivational. We went up a road, through a field with a tick warning and then further along another road, uphill, through a gate near a disabled parking space and a bus stop! (Not that we saw any buses). Not sure it’s the most direct route. Our route had a lot of steps, some steep, but level and not much path, with a couple of benches to stop and admire the view. There is another route via a more established entrance up a road where there is a sales man selling crystals/jewels. Go though a gate with a defib. We came down that route and realised that you could not see the top, whilst climbing when people who were starting out were asking us how far it was - not so much fun IMHO. This route is more path and fewer stairs. The top has AMAZING views. Even if you have to take it slow, I would really recommend it. At the top, there are no facilities at all just the now hollow tower and when we visited people meditating, playing instruments and just revelling in the scenery. Utterly peaceful.
