点评：Traveling the historic trails west from Wyoming with Historic Trails West was an experience that changed me in ways I never expected. While this journey was my friend Amy’s long‑held dream, it became deeply meaningful and life‑shaping for me as well. Traveling nearly 60 miles along the Oregon Trail, guided by an authentic and deeply committed support team, pulled by powerful draft animals, and sustained by generous Dutch oven meals at the end of long days, gave the experience a rhythm and realism that cannot be replicated. At the heart of it all is Morris, the wagon master—a walking history book and true steward of this life. Morris has lived and breathed the trail, having made multiple treks from Missouri to Astoria on the Oregon Trail and driven wagons and teams all the way through on the California Trail. He doesn’t just teach history; he shares his life, his knowledge of the animals, how the wagons work, how demanding the trail truly was, and what it took—physically and mentally—to keep moving west. We had time to slow down, reflect, and think, even as a storm pushed through and the land quietly revealed pioneer graves along the way. Being immersed in the weather, the work, the animals, and the stories gave me a tangible understanding of what it may have felt like to leave everything familiar behind in search of a new life. Since returning home, I now seek out pioneer museums and opportunities to learn more, because this experience gave me something lasting: perspective, humility, and a deep respect for the courage of those who traveled these trails. Morris is a treasure, and this is the most authentic and meaningful historical experience I’ve ever had.
