点评:We chose the covered bridge tour, which was advertised as a 55-minute ride, but we were fortunate to spend nearly an hour and a half with our Amish driver, Levi. He was very knowledgeable about the area and made the ride especially interesting by pointing out farms and homes belonging to members of his own family along our route.
The highlight was crossing the covered bridge in a horse-drawn buggy. Levi kindly slowed down so we would have plenty of time to take pictures, and he explained some of the history of the bridge as we crossed.
We also enjoyed Levi’s sense of humor. Along the way, he pointed out the Amish version of “Walmart” and “Home Depot”—places where local families purchase farm equipment and supplies. His combination of knowledge, personal stories, and humor made the ride much more than simply a buggy ride.
It was a beautiful summer day and they were very busy, so we did have to wait a little over an hour for our tour. Our only suggestion for improvement would be some way for passengers seated toward the back of the buggy to hear the driver more clearly. Levi provided excellent narration, but at times it was difficult for those in the back to hear him.
Overall, this was a delightful experience and one of the highlights of our visit to Amish country. We especially appreciated Levi taking his time and giving us such an enjoyable and personal look at the area. We would gladly recommend the covered bridge tour.
