点评:This route was much further than I was expecting from my Baños hostal, and a lot more challenging too. The road is mostly shared with cars, so you are breathing in their exhaust and hoping they don’t hit you most of the time. There is no shoulder/bike lane, and the road isn’t paved the entire way so you really need to watch for potholes and uneven surfaces. There are parts off the main road because bikes aren’t allowed in the tunnels, and those parts were more pleasant. I would have liked to look around more at the spectacular views, but you have to keep your eyes on the road because cars and bussed speed by you. I did stop for each waterfall and some canyoning, so that was good. Also, my hostal told me I could catch a bus at the last waterfall, Cascada Machay, but quickly learned the buses weren’t running anymore (it was 2:45pm on a Sunday) so had to scramble to find a taxi that would take me and my bike back to town. You could in theory ride back as well, but you’d be pressed between the mountainside and the cars going by you.
