点评:I had really high expectations for this place but left with disappointment. I give this 1 star because the lake is really nice. Easy access for swimming, kayaking and etc. Maybe for a day trip but not camping.
First off, you have to take a long dirt road in the the area. It's not horrible but definitely not pleasant. If you forgot something or need something, going into a town is a long haul.
Check in is at 2PM. We arrived on a Monday. We had ice but I inquired about possibly getting some the next day. They were out, and no delivery until Friday. The water well (not drinking) was also out of service near the day use area.
The campsite was decent. Had a fire pit and picnic table. We stayed just off the water. It was one of the loudest camp sites I've ever had. Neighbors were close and you could hear everything.
The bathroom was disgusting. It was dirty, the doors wouldn't shut, toilet seats not on correctly, and bugs/flies everywhere. For the price to camp, I expected something nicer.
The staff was not friendly or helpful besides Shelby and Will. They were the nicest and really went above and beyond trying to make our stay better.
My air pump died. A staff member told me to go to the office to use the air compressor. So, I went to the office to ask if I could use the compressor to blow up a large raft. A staff member told me NO, rudely, with little eye contact. I was offered to use a hand pump. I forget her name (dark hair with shaved sides) but I did read reviews on how the staff were not friendly or helpful. I couldn't agree more.
The trash can said it was FULL but when I looked in it, it was empty. Not sure if this was on purpose but seemed sketch to me.
On the second day, around lunch time, we were told by staff that there was a fire ban in place for the remainder of the day. The fire ban was only in place at this lake. There were wind gusts, so this was understandable at the time. I asked when it would be lifted? The reply was we only have staff from 9-5, so not until the next day. I was so confused because usually around sunset the winds die down... and sure thing they did. The lake was like glass by 6PM. BUT we couldn't have a fire because they didn't have the time or staff to come tell everyone the band was lifted. This was ridiculous.
Overall, you are paying top dollar to be stranded at a place with disgusting bathrooms, no ice, no well water, "full" trash cans, loud campsites, "private" fire bands, limited staff that are rude and not helpful. They obviously are driven by the dollar bill... not by creating a good experience and environment for people. It's a huge disappointment for the potential the place could have. My advice, go somewhere else. Run don't walk!
