点评：Lindenhof is one of the most beautiful and iconic places I visited in Zurich. Perched on a small hill in the heart of the city, it offers stunning panoramic views of the Old Town, the Limmat River, and the towers of the Grossmünster Church.
What makes Lindenhof truly special is its blend of peaceful nature and deep historical significance. The hill was once the site of a Roman fort and centuries later it became the location of a Carolingian royal residence, giving the area an important role in Zurich’s early development. Today, none of those structures remain, but the sense of history is very much alive.
The square is surrounded by large, shady linden trees (which give the place its name) and has plenty of benches — perfect for taking a break, enjoying the breeze, or capturing beautiful photos. I loved how calm and serene it felt despite being in the middle of the city. One of my favourite spots was the viewpoint overlooking the Limmat River and Old Town; it’s incredibly picturesque and a must-see for anyone visiting Zurich.
A charming detail you’ll notice is that locals sometimes gather here to play giant outdoor chess, adding to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Whether you want a quiet place to unwind, a scenic viewpoint for photos, or a spot rich with centuries of history, Lindenhof is absolutely worth visiting. It’s one of those places that makes you pause, breathe, and truly appreciate Zurich’s unique charm.
