Don’t stay until close to closing time!

点评：We visited the gardens and shops, which were lovely, and then went to the cafe for a cake before heading home. The cafe was closing at 5pm and at about 4.47pm the manager (as far as I could tell) started upending chairs and putting them on tables at the other end of the cafe. The two younger staff members continued after she went out the back. The two other groups of people left, getting the hint. I felt irritated that we were passive-aggressively being told to leave so we stayed, and one of the staff started pulling down blinds, looking pointedly at his watch and putting chairs on tables right next to us. It wasn’t even 4.55pm by this point! Evidently the people who worked there think that them leaving at 5pm is more important than caring for customers or closing at the actual closing time advertised. The lack of care and selfishness of the staff made our day end on a really sour note, which was such a shame - made even worse because we were there to mark the 20th anniversary of our mum’s death, as it had been a special place for her. We won’t be rushing back!
