点评:We like it here, some of the restaurants and bars are a bit samey but you can find hidden gems along the top road above the beach, good Italian and excellent tapas restaurants. The beach itself stretches forever in both directions, west to Alvor after the cliffs and east to PDR Marina where you can find lots of beach side eateries and drink great wine while looking out to sea. Here you can walk either of the lighthouse walks, port and starboard or both if you are feeling energetic. We have been to Portimao twice and whilst we lived the port and the restaurant and bar scene there we didn’t warm to much of the centre, Praia De Rocha is about €4 in a taxi from there and well worth it. End October it’s pretty quiet but a lot of locals can be found here this time and lots of Brazilian tourists. I would avoid the beach bars in front of the sand at this time, some are closed and one in particular the toilets were all blocked and absolutely disgusting. I suspect May to September you’ll not be bored. I would definitely recommend a bus to Alvor for the day and a walk along the nature reserve at Armacao de Pera which is a bus or taxi ride away. The beaches speak for themselves , all beautiful.
