点评:Hiked the Besakih route on 22 March (just before they closed for a month for ceremonies). Adding to other reviews as I think found of the noise you hear in Bali about this route (including from my driver on pickup!) a bit off-putting and I nearly bailed. Glad I didn't, was my fave Bali activity. If you've done something approaching 2000m in eg the Alps before this won't be harder in my view: darkness and lack of sleep are more difficult, but being guided makes up for a lot of that. Perhaps a little riskier as I'm not sure how good rescue would be, so good shoes and (asking your guide to being a) trekking pole important. I would also bring a raincoat if in rainy season, and for sure warm clothes for the summit. The jungle path is clearly defined (though eroded). Starting at 11 gave me plenty (nearly 2hrs) of rest time, though mostly in shelters and with a fire at the final stop which was fun. Check the weather (ventusky worked for me)
