点评:Visited the Gladstone Pottery museum on two occasions whilst we stayed in Stoke-on-Trent. The first visit was on a Thursday and we were met by a very kind lady called Selina who kindly showed us to the first part of the Pottery Tour. It was a self guided tour and we were able not only to see how these old potteries functioned in their heyday but also view pieces of work from the most recent Channel 4 TV series 'The Great Pottery Throw Down". Our first visit also gave us the opportunity to sign up for a Raku session that was being hosted on the following Saturday.
Our second visit (Saturday) was to do the Raku session hosted by Huw Phillips, an experienced potter from the local area who hosted a small group of 8 people on a 3hr Raku workshop. Having never done Raku before and only seeing it on television we didn't;t know what to expect but it was pretty straightforward after a great explanation by Huw. We had a lot of fun doing it and to do it in the atmospheric environment of Gladstone made the experience all the more special. Would highly recommend it and Huw has a wealth of experience to draw on.
All in all a wonderful place to visit and if you have any interest in pottery is must be on your list of places to visit.
