点评:Shrewsbury is one of those places that you always mean to visit yet never quite manage it but this time, I got there and visited the abbey church and well worth the time it was too! It was an very wet day but the volunteers at the small shop, were very welcoming and directed us to visit various items of interest. They also supplied laminated guide sheets to cover the main points of interest. The church was founded in 1080 and has some solid Norman architecture but was altered to conform to later architectural styles and satisfy the whims of the abbots. The lighting in the nave is somewhat stark and it could perhaps do with some local lighting to accent the Norman architecture. There are some splendid tombs including parts of St Winifred's tomb - readers of the Cadfael novels will know about the trials and tribulations of bringing the saint back to Shrewsbury!
Unfortunately none of the usual monastic buildings survive but even so, it is well worth a visit!

不幸的是,常见的修道院建筑都没有幸存,但即便如此,它仍然非常值得一游!
