Lovely example of an Arts & Crafts country home

点评：I don't have a great interest in George Bernard Shaw, but I enjoyed my visit to his home. I'm glad we pre-booked a guided tour of the house. I got to learn a lot about Mr & Mrs Shaw and their lives. I did not realise they had a close friendship with T.E. Lawrence.
The house is unchanged from the 1950s. A lovely example of the Arts & Crafts style. The gardens are pleasant with seating that would be perfect for a packed lunch or picnic. A collection of very interesting personal items of Mr. Shaw. Including sculpture by Rodin, and a real Oscar statue.
Staff are very helpful. The visitor centre is small with limited coffee bar facilities. A small car park, but it was easy enough to park in the village. A toilet is on site.
A few simple garden activities for children to learn about British wildlife.
A short walk from Shaw's Corner is a very unusual Ayot St Lawrence Palladian Church. Well worth a visit.
Shaw's Corner needs more visitors to help cover its running costs. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
The lanes to Ayot St Lawrence are narrow. Definitely study the directions provided by the National Trust and follow them as it will provide more passing spaces on the single-lane road.
