点评:Moyse’s Hall museum is located on Cornhill in the centre of Bury St Edmunds.
It is just over half a mile on foot from the railway station.
The current main exhibition on show is called The Art of Cinema which runs until 22 February.
It is an interesting display of props, costumes, memorabilia and footage from several notable films including Jaws, Batman, No Time To Die and Lord Of The Rings amongst others.
I particularly liked the footage from the first Jaws film.
The standing displays in the museum are fascinating too.
I enjoyed the art. Local artists Sybil Andrews and Mary Beale were prominently displayed plus a painting by Angelica Kauffman.
Moyse’s Hall dates back to the 12th century and at one time, was the town’s prison.
There’s an informative room concerning crime and punishment, especially relating to witchcraft.
The Suffolk Regiment also have a section on show and it was sad to read of their heavy losses in Singapore during World War II.
I also liked the story of King Edmund who was King of East Anglia in the 9th century, after whom the town is named.
Admission fee is £5 and the museum is closed on Sundays.
