点评:Our visit to Hughenden Manor was absolutely lovely on a beautiful spring public holiday. It’s a perfect blend of high-stakes political history and beautiful, tranquil nature. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a gorgeous place to walk the dog, this National Trust site delivers.
Walking through the rooms where Benjamin Disraeli entertained Queen Victoria is a surreal experience. The house is packed with personal memorabilia, and the "Gallery of Affection" staircase is a must-see for its collection of portraits.
The formal Italianate gardens are stunning, especially the colorful Victorian parterre. We also spent a good hour wandering through the walled garden and orchard, which boasts dozens of ancient apple varieties. The Stableyard Café serves a great cream tea. It can get busy, so aim for an early lunch or a late afternoon treat. The road leading up can be a bit narrow, so take it slow on busy weekends.A brilliant day out in the Chilterns. It feels much more intimate and "lived-in" than some of the larger estates. Highly recommended!
