点评：Most certainly worth a visit. Both the Hatfield house ( built 1611) and the Old Palace ( the one queen Elizabeth has spent her childhood in ) are lovely. The room guides are very knowledgeable and amiable, always happy to answer your questions and tailor their explanations to your level of knowledge and interest; the majority is bilingual too ( French, Hindi and Irish are the languages I spotted). The surrounding territory is very pleasant too, garden is full of topiary you would find interesting.
There is an opportunity to get a tour around the Old Palace for extra £8 per person. I would definitely recommend taking it while Dermot is there ( Friday, Saturday and Sunday ). He is an admirable enthusiast in the history of this place, his presentation was very engaging no matter the age of the listeners. I can assure you you will remember him as one of the best tour guides you have ever had.
