Dermot the tour guide is a gem. The history of Hatfield comes alive with his tour.

点评：Absolutely stunning Tudor house and parkland. I'm obsessed with history, especially the Tudor period, so it was a privilege to finally visit the house and on the opening day of the season.
Dermot, who gave the tour of the original house, I discovered is also Irish and from the next county to me. He is a gentleman, so knowledgeable and passionate about the house, its former residents and the history. His tour is an absolute must! He carried out so much research and has the Irish flair for story telling... he brought the house and characters alive.
The house was only 15 minutes by train from Finsbury Park Station and underground station, so a worthwhile day trip from London. The gates to the House and Park entrance are literally across the road from the station.
Many visitors to London have no idea how close and easy it is to get to and are missing out on such a beautiful experience.
The cafe was lovely, prices are 'normal' for London (expensive). Toilet facilities clean and plenty of stalls.
Staff were all pleasant and helpful.
You can photograph, but not film in the 'newer' house, it is still a family residence.
Bring the family, or go solo and spend the day. You will leave happy and rejuvenated, the birds singing and peacefulness of the woodlands makes it the perfect oasis and tonic from normal life. You can almost see Elizabeth, Mary and Edward running through the gardens.
