Bring history to life with wonderful tour of Hatfield Old Palace.

点评：We visited specifically to see the Tudor Palace and to walk in the parkland, aware that the Jacobean House only opens later in the year. On arrival it was easy to park and to book places on the guided tour.
The Palace was incredible. Only the one wing is left but it houses the beautiful Hall and rooms in which the royal children were schooled and in which important discussions would have been held at significant times in Tudor history (eg following Elizabeth becoming aware that she was now Queen). Dermot was our wonderful tour guide. It was a very memorable hour in which Dermot brought to life the buildings and their inhabitants with historical background including details from his own research. Having someone so welcoming and genuinely passionate about Hatfield made the tour very special.
The Park was lovely to walk around with ancient woodlands and the cafe was very welcoming with a good selection. It seemed very popular also with locals. The Church is also worth a visit.
Thank you to Dermot and to all the lovely staff we met. We are looking forward to retuning and meeting Dermot again to learn about Hatfield House.
