Dorset Museum & Art Gallery的点评
点评：The Dorset Museum and Art Gallery is housed in a fine old refurbished building in the centre of Dorchester.
It is half a mile on foot from Dorchester South station.
We visited on the first day of the museum reopening after a winter break and it was quite busy.
There’s a wide range of interesting artefacts on display. Plenty of these relate to the nearby Jurassic Coast and I liked the Weymouth Bay Pliosaur and the Swanage Snapper.
I enjoyed the room containing Thomas Hardy memorabilia. Lots of manuscripts, photographs and paintings relating to the great author.
The current exhibition on show is called People Watching with a good selection of photography, paintings and sculptures, many of which have a local connection.
Some good sculptures and other art work by Elisabeth Frink plus some interesting paintings by Alfred Wallis and Christopher Wood.
I also liked the photographs of the likes of Tina Turner and Elton John.
With an Art Pass, admission is free.
However, general admission is quite expensive at £15.50 on the day or £13.95 if booked online in advance.
