Lots to see - especially if you are a shoe lover!

点评：Visiting the area in order to see the Charles Rennie Mackintosh house at 78 Derngate, Northampton, we also spent several hours in the Northampton Museum and Gallery. The cafe provides good food at very reasonable prices - we enjoyed morning coffee and lunch there between visiting the exhibits. Firstly, we should say, we were blown away by the shoe collection. The huge collection was elegantly laid out, plenty of information provided, as well as films, audio clips and some A/V displays allowing you to design your own shoes or explore the collection in more detail. There was a temporary exhibition of life in the 1980s, which we thoroughly enjoyed and spotted many items we had had ourselves in our youth! In the upper galleries, there was a very well displayed exhibition on Northampton's history from prehistory to more recent times. We found the art museum a little disappointing but there were a few gems on display. All in all, a museum that is worth a visit.
