Athelhampton House and Gardens的点评
点评：We have visited through the Historic Houses Association many wonderful properties, and Athelhampton would be up there with the best of them. The dedication of owners past and present to maintain the house and gardens to such a high standard was wonderful to witness. The gardens firstly are yet to reach their summer peak but what we experienced was quite uplifting. The design of Francis Inigo Thomas providing a landscape that gardeners over the years have been able to draw down on. The house was fascinating and the amount of work to bring the house back to its awe inspiring levels, incredible. Clearly this requires vision, dedication and considerable time and expenditure. Our brilliant guide walked us through the many rooms, elequnetly painting a picture of the different lives at the Hall and their impact on the gardens and house. Best described as an alternative rendition, we loved the quirky history lesson. A visit to the tea room rounded off our visit and another very enjoyable experience. But what made this visit especially lovely, was the many individuals we met during our visit and their approach to providing the best possible experience to the Halls visitors. A smile and an acknowledgement costs nothing, but today this appears to us anyway a dying service. Well done all at Athelhampton and thank you.
