点评:This is a review solely of the cafe, since the house and grounds are covered elsewhere. Personally as members we like strolling around the wood and riverbank, but they are not extensive grounds .
In the cafe, on the plus side, the staff were friendly and there was no music (a particular bugbear). They have replaced the other charming sofa and easy chairs with neat rather rudimentary tables and chairs. We sat in and ordered tea. This turned out to be no more than a paper cup of hot water with a standard tea bag dropped inside, then placed on the counter. We then had to carry our hot paper cups to a table to add our own milk, then across the small room between other tables to our own, trying not to pour the contents down other customers' necks. Anyone expecting a traditional English afternoon tea, with a teapot and extra pot of hot water and a china cup and saucer, i.e. with the necessary ritual, would wonder how debased a cafe has to be to fall to such a low level - and at a National Trust house!
