点评:We'd always heard that Waddesdon Manor was the jewel in the crown of the National Trust portfolio and it certainly deserves that accolade: it truly is stunning. It therefore attracts a very large number of visitors and you must book an arrival time in advance. Currently the property is open for just 4 hours on 5 days a week, so expect it to be very busy when you visit. I would suggest not booking the first 12.00 slot which is when it opens.
We took the bus from the car park to the house as otherwise it's a VERY long uphill walk. On arrival, we found there were various facilities closed but the staff did their best to manage the arriving visitors. Take note of the maximum size bag you are allowed to take into the house, although they do try to be a bit flexible.
There is a lot to see in this magnificent property. However, the shop is very overpriced and the wine is a rip-off. Just because a very ordinary wine (from various countries, not just France) has the name Rothschild printed on the label doesn't make it worth buying, when the same wine can be bought for a third of the price in a supermarket. Allow a good couple of hours to enjoy your visit to the house.
