点评:Longleat safari is beautiful, thematic and wonderfully interactive. We did 2 days there and we got to feed the giraffes, lorikeets, sea lions and deer. We did 2 rides on the jungle cruise. It is absolutely fantastic, thematic animals look happy and well cared for. We did the safari tour bus one day to get some information about the house and animals and we did it in our car the next day, where you get a much much better view.
Food isn’t as expensive as I would have expected, lots of places to eat and although there is of course some of the usual tat at the gift shops a lot of it was actually quite lovely.
My only negative comment is, in the part where you hold the bugs, my daughter was queuing to hold a tarantula and there was a family there already, dad was holding it and his little boy went to stroke it. Maybe only about 3 or 4 years old. And the man who was running the handling didn’t say no, he didn’t use his words. Instead he used his hands. He gripped this poor little boys wrist so tight I could see the mother’s face was absolutely furious. The dad gave it back, the little boy was so upset he then wouldn’t hold it himself and they took the little boy over to a different part of the room and were checking his wrist for marks. The man running it realised his error and went over to apologise I think and see if he was okay but frankly if that was my child I would’ve been absolutely putting in a formal complaint. His name was Chris. It was too little too late I think. You can’t grip a child like that. It’s completely unacceptable, he wasn’t trying to do anything awful, just stroke it! Poor little boys. It made me genuinely angry on behalf of him and his family for a good hour or so afterwards.
