点评:I was hoping for historical interest, but what I got was a headache. The petting zoo is available for view from the street (llama, chickens with special feathers, a couple of other sad creatures). Inside, there are tons of semi-precious stones, Western doodads and kitsch, all selling at top dollar. I don’t know what the mining museum consists of, but it’s $4 to enter the gated section off the store, and I had zero interest after running the gauntlet of the stones and curios. The whole thing reminded me of a place I was taken by a summer camp in Maine decades ago called “The Desert of Maine.” A farmer, who got tired of always having to take out rocks from his field, buried the entire farm under boatloads of sand, then posted signs saying “Farmhouse under here!” Or “Silo under here!” And, he had a tower: for $1 you could get an aerial view of the Desert of Maine! That’s kind of how this place felt to me, even though it’s actually better.
