点评:We visited Windsor Castle on what turned out to be one of the most meaningful days of our lives — and it’s all thanks to one incredibly kind member of staff named Alex.
We hadn’t planned on paying for admission. As parents of two neurodivergent children, the full castle experience would have been overwhelming for them, so we were simply hoping to find a specific spot in a photograph taken decades ago — a picture of my family from when I was little, shared by my uncle after the passing of my dad. I had always dreamed of finding that exact location and recreating the moment with my own boys.
We couldn’t locate the spot, so my partner Ames approached Alex, who works for the Windsor Castle Trust, explained our story and showed him the photo. He confirmed it was taken on the grounds. We completely understood this wasn’t somewhere we could simply wander into, and began to walk away.
Then Alex stopped us.
“You know what… I’ll take you there.”
He ensured everything was done properly, taking us through all the usual security protocols before walking us onto the grounds. He then found the exact spot from the photo, took pictures for us, and gave us our own personal mini tour. He owed us nothing. He didn’t know us at all. But his generosity, warmth and genuine human kindness made our entire trip.
Alex — you have no idea how much that moment means to our family. You turned a lovely day into something truly unforgettable. We are so grateful 💙
