点评:I’d read about it and seen documentaries and was intrigued to see a replica Bronze Age Settlement. By sheer good luck the day we visited was England’s annual heritage day and the man himself - France’s Pryor - was there giving public lectures. I had read his Britain BC and Britain AD books and seen him on documentaries. A world famous archeology legend. I bought a copy of his new book Flag Fen (revised version) and a photo and signing. A thrill. The settlement is actually just 2 round houses built in the original way. There is also a museum with artefacts found in the Fens digs, and a display of Bronze Age old wooden boats. Cool to see axe markings on these old timbers. The star of the show is the submerged timber walkway. The reconstruction shows what it would have looked like. It was an ancient pathway across the often flooded fens and a place to drive livestock. All very fascinating. A very nice cafe with friendly staff.
