点评:The caves themselves are interesting to look out but our tour guide didn't bother telling us much about them. At the beginning he pointed out a map showing that the caves were created in stages by druids, Romans and Anglo-Saxons and promised stories about human sacrifice and an underground christening during the tour but that was the last we heard about the people who created them and we never did hear either story.
The guide was very dismissive of the visitors, kept stopping at various points, tellling us to look around, ignoring everyone for a while, then telling us to come on.
At one point he became quite animated which seemed promising and started an explanation about some carvings, then suddenly abandoned the idea, told his colleague to finish it off and walked away. His colleague clearly hadn't been listening to his talk because he then restarted the same explanation from the beginning.
When we emerged after 40 minutes I still felt like I was in the dark regarding the caves and almost bought a history book from the shop but decided I had already paid enough. My daughter summed it up by saying that it was the worst tour she had ever been on.
If you enjoy being frogmarched around underground spaces with minimal information and being patronised do go along.
