点评:A Royal palace for centuries, Leeds Castle was purchased by Lady Baillie in 1925 to become one of the greatest "country houses" in England in the 1930's. It was very interesting to see all the artefacts, furniture etc. from that era. Make sure you use the free guided tour headsets which gives you the history and information for each room (once started they move on automatically from room to room).
The gardens are vast with plenty of walks by the lake and park areas. It takes around 10 minutes or so to walk to the castle from the car park, but there is a shuttle. Sadly the black swan ferry was not operational on the day we visited.
We didn't take our own food but ate at the courtyard cafe. As I am coeliac, the staff were very "careful" and I had an excellent gluten free carrot cake. I was informed that there were gluten free sandwiches at the restaurant, but didn't visit there.
We would have no hesitation in recommending a day out here. It was a very interesting place to visit with lovely gardens.
