Imperial War Museum Duxford – A Fantastic Day Out**

点评：Getting to the Imperial War Museum Duxford was simple enough, being just off the A14, and we had no problem finding a parking space. We visited on a Friday around lunchtime and parking was free, which was a nice bonus.
Initially, I thought the admission price was quite expensive, but after spending the day there and seeing just how much there is to explore, I have to say it was definitely worth the money. My only criticism is that I feel there should be concessions for serving military personnel and veterans. This is a place that celebrates and values the armed forces, so I think it would be a great gesture to offer reduced admission for those who have served.
I would definitely recommend bringing your own packed lunch and refreshments. The food and drinks on site are quite expensive and, in my opinion, the quality doesn’t really justify the price.
I would also strongly recommend allowing a full day for your visit, as there is a huge amount to see. Hanger 1 and especially Hanger 5, the American Air Museum, were fantastic and packed with history and incredible aircraft.
A special mention has to go to the volunteers. They were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and happy to chat and answer questions. A particular shout-out to Ian in the US hangar, who went above and beyond and really added to our experience. People like him make places like Duxford even more special.
We were also lucky enough to see Hurricanes and Spitfires flying around, which was absolutely brilliant and really brought the history to life. Getting the opportunity to board Concorde was another fantastic experience and definitely one of the highlights of the day.
The one area that really disappointed me was the gift shop. I found it very expensive and, unfortunately, there wasn’t really much that caught my eye or made me want to buy anything. I think there is definitely room for improvement there.
Overall, despite a few areas that could be improved, we had a wonderful experience at Duxford. There is so much history, so many incredible aircraft and plenty to keep you interested throughout the day. I would definitely recommend a visit, especially if you’re interested in military history and aviation.
