Lovely winter walks, pops of colour, snowdrops, history...and coffee!

点评：We used a rare, dry January day to stroll the gardens at Mottisfont, and found pops of winter colour and early signs of Spring everywhere.
It was so interesting, seeing the gardens in their winter state, volunteers hard at work, preparing for the amazing transformation to come. 1,000s of snowdrops were in full bloom too, with cute info signs nearby.
Coffees at the Stables cafe, a browse in the 2nd-hand bookshop, and a walk along both sides of the river walk, completed the day. And we bought a few plants at 20% off too.
There's a fun insects trail for very young visitors, (until sometime in March, so check out the Mottisfont website for details. Likewise, house and gardens opening days and hours.)
Parking was on the level, gravel, the gift shop is well-worth a visit, and the staff, everywhere, are helpful and friendly.
The house was closed for winter works, which we knew before we arrived. It really is fantastic inside though.

我们到达之前就知道房屋正在进行冬季维护，所以暂时关闭。不过，房屋内部真的非常棒。
真是个美好但略带寒意的日子。景色优美，花园迷人，冬日活动丰富多彩。冬日里的英式历史花园，雪花莲盛开。我太喜欢这里了。
