点评:I think it undersells itself on the website ! Lots of planes and pieces of planes and gear of course. Very informative boards and easy to get around. A super section on Southampton during WW2 with an excellent short film and info on the blitz when the city was for obvious reasons hit very hard. Lovely mock ups of an Anderson shelter, home , pub etc easily as detailed as bigger or more obvious museums. An undersold highlight!
Equally good was the history of commercial flights in Southampton and the Solent area- seaplanes with cocktail bars- who knew?
Staff/volunteers were low key but charming and knowledgeable with a range of visitors. Honesty box type arrangement for coffee and biscuits, plenty of seating around if anyone needed a rest. Street parking was not a problem.
I fear it may lose out to the glamour of SeaCity but deserves to be much better known and promoted. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
