Worth visiting, a historic site that needs protecting.

点评：I've lived in Basingstoke for nearly 50 years and this was my first visit. It's a great piece of local history, it's a shame cromwell made sure every bit of the house was destroyed and removed. But that said there is enough there to spark your imagination and envisage what would have been there. There are some relics to see and plenty of information to read. I'm glad we came and would come again. That said it needs investment, the site is becoming overgrown. Areas are not accessible anymore, which is a shame. The guide book shows the site looking clearer and it needs to be returned to that state. I will return as its a lovely walk along the river and the site is great for a picnic. The number of visitors is not enough to sustain it and protect its future. I would encourage people to visit and help to ensure its future.
