A secret crown jewel for Liverpool tourism!
Western Approaches HQ Museum - The Battle of the Atlantic Experience的点评
点评:We visited during February half term and i was surprised to see it wasnt very busy - which was great for us! This is a secret crown jewel for Liverpool tourism, it was like going back in time! The kids (8,10 and 13) really enjoyed exploring the bunker and seeing all the old original furniture and equipment used during the war. They loved the experience of being able to walk around such a pivotal place that not only was Instrumental in winning the war but also displays the part Liverpool and its people played in the war effort. They also loved seeing the old shops and experiencing what life looked like 80+ years ago - its one of the most immersive museums ive been to, its like walking round a time capsual! They enjoyed deciphering morse code and interacting with all the equipment. Overall we were in there about 1hr and 30 mins which was just long enough as my 8 year old was starting to get a bit bored near the end - definately an experience for oldwr kids! The staff were wonderful and really enthusiastic with the kids and set them up with the "find the spy" clues around the museum - which helped keep their interest along the way. This is definitely a hidden gem, i enjoy learning about the second world war and was surprised i hadnt even heard of this place before especially as I worked nearby on Old Hall Street for many years! We only found out about it because my 13yo saw it on TikTok! Their are a few more areas still roped off so looking forward to coming back when theyve had a chance to expand into those rooms.
Small feedback - Itd be cool if you guys added more sounds along the way, maybe an old radio playing 40s music in the Admiral's room, maybe the hustle and bustle background noise you wouldve heard in the big map room. Morse code sounds in the code room - kids love that kind of detail in an already immersive experience like this. Lastly my only (small) negative is the price of admission - £15 per adult feels a bit too much.
