Overcrowded & Too Much Closed Off

点评：So busy today (30th Dec) that even the overflow car parks were full.
Not totally unexpected, but not exactly great when most of the garden areas were closed off ‘due to the time of year’ (according to the signs planted next to every lawn/interesting walkway/gated area) and visitor’s only experience of the gardens was being herded through countless crowded narrow muddy woodland paths with not a lot to look at.
Food in restaurant looked nice but massive queues there too and no free tables so couldn’t stay.
In total only spent 1 hour here, which was disappointing as looked really good on the website (could find no warning here that most of the garden areas were closed, and would not have driven for an hour to get here if we had known this).
Not really fair to charge full entry price when not every thing is accessible.
The house was interesting, although again very crowded, which made viewing awkward/uncomfortable at times - would have been nicer if there had been a restriction on the number of visitors allowed in at one time.
