点评:There was a large flat car park and very welcoming staff on admission. There is a long walk to the house but fortunately there is an electric mini bus with a strict ticket colour scheme which works v well. The food was the typical expensive NT offering but not handled particularly well. You are encouraged to choose sandwiches when you enter and only once you reach the counter do you see the hot menu hence there were people doubling back to return sandwiches etc as they had changed their minds. We waited to be served whilst the young staff chatted and joked together and when our sausage rolls arrived they were very over cooked.
The gardens were, however, stunning and worth a visit on their own but we would avoid the house next time. As per all NT houses (and I understand why) it was extremely dark and that made it difficult to see much. The lady that admitted our group was incredibly rude. She virtually bullied all of us into seeing the exhibition and kept telling us ‘well its your day but you won’t understand the house if you don’t’ and went onto make an extremely sarcastic comment inferring that our group were not like her and wouldn’t recycle or return the paper leaflets. One couple walked out halfway through her rant and we followed. I commented that it had been many years since I had been so badly patronised and spoken down to and they readily agreed. Other staff (and there were far too many) spent most of their time standing next to arrow signs pointing the same way and trying to foist paper booklets into our hands. We were herded like sheep. All other areas were lovely including the church. We enjoyed the shop and plant sales area too but the house is not worth the time. The star of course was the gorgeous ginger cat wearing a ‘do not feed’ bandana who was living his best life patrolling the outside eating area!
