An intriguing house - different to most others visited

点评：We stopped off here as a break in the journey on our way into Cornwall and so didn't have time to see the grounds which are extensive.
We did visit the house and there are three "trails" through the house, we did all three.
From when you first see the house you realise that it's not the usual NT offering. It's not neatly placed in the landscape with a ha-ha to manage the grounds. The house and the formal gardens are enclosed by a wall. The gateway into it is impressive.
It's different inside too. Lots of panelling in the corridors, white decorated plaster ceilings. It did seem a bit dark in the corridors but maybe the sun-stopping net curtains were doing that.
Apparently most of the house had been destroyed in fire but the rebuilt house is still furnished as before due to the servants rescuing all the contents into the courtyard.
Interesting cooling channels in the kitchen workspaces.
