点评:Lauren and her team are doing wonderful things here. I’m a retired veterinarian so very hesitant to visit many so called rescue or refuge operations, but this one is the real thing. I went with my guide Javier Perez who reassured me, and he was absolutely right. They rehab indigenous animals if possible, and if not able to be released they are provided with a safe and happy home. Some of these critters were “pets” that were turned in or confiscated, but too tame or changed to be released back. Now they get to teach people about the amazing wildlife under threat here in estado Guerrero. Wonderful interpretive signs provide legit info on range, diet, habitat and conservation status. And while it’s kinda cheating, I LOVED watching all of the different native colibrí (hummingbirds) feeding so I could really observe and compare them. Muchíchimas grácias al Refugio para su verdadero trabajo en cuidado y educación.
